Best iPad Cases
So, you've got the best tablet in the world (for now!), but surely it needs a little protection to keep it in pristine condition. Time to find the best iPad Case for your apple gadget.
We'll be taking a look at the best-selling iPad cases and some of the more unusual. You might just need a lightweight skin or screen protector, or a glamorous leather iPad case. Whichever it is read on to find out which are hot and which are not.
Or, if you're in a hurry skip my words and head on over to amazon for to view their stocks.
Personally I am a fan of leather iPad Cases, particularly lightweight covers that will slip easily into another sturdier bag so that what I have started with here. But if you are after something more serious and protective scoot on down the bottom of the page where we'll be looking at the other options available.
One such fabulous alternative are the Otterbox ipad cases. Great for those busy blogging from building sites, or gaming in the company of toddlers and their rather interesting habit of drop kicking gadgets!
Right then, if you're still with me lets get started on the road to finding your ideal iPad cover.
Of course this is entirely a personal opionion. But as a gadget fan and avid shopper I do try to uncover the pick of the crop with regard to the best iPad cases.
Best iPad 2 Cases
Well now we have a rush to find the best iPad 2 Cases since the release of the slightly smaller tablet from Apple. As usual a few suppliers have been a little caught out with the release of the new gadget.
Luckily though, a few that got in early have really come up trumps bringing us some cool covers for the iPad2. Here are our top 3 early arrivals on the scene:
- Targus Hughes 360 iPad2 Case - This looks great, offers loads of protection and comes with traditional Targus Hughes styling. But you also get a nifty take on the built in stand. This cover lets you rotate the tablet a full 360 degrees so you can switch quickly and effortlessly from portrait to landscape as the mood takes you.
Fosmon TPU Skin Case for iPad 2 - This offers a soft flexible feel but tough rugged practicality and all for only around $15. Not the most original iPad 2 cover but surely one of the most popular since it "does what it says on the tin" so to speak.
iLuv Portfolio Case with Stand for iPad 2nd Gen - This is a great all rounder, budget leatherette case. Practical - looks good and we love the chunky clasp even if it is only good old Velcro!
The very best iPad2 cases available immediately are few and far between, but we know there will be plenty more coming soon. Don't forget that some of the better carry cases such as the Hard Candy Bubble Sleeve will hold either too so you might not even really need to buy a new case for your Apple iPad, even though I know you will want too!
Cool New iPad Cases
Below you will see my top 3 selections for the best leather iPad Cases. But things do keep changing and new products keep appearing.
So for those of you that want something a little different (not just the usual best selling iPad Covers, check out my current pick of the best slightly more unusual cases for the iPad this week:
- Hard Candy Bubble Sleeve for iPad. Simply funky and "bubble-luscious"! You've got to love the bright pink version. But still practical with great bumpers inside and bubbles outside to protect your tablet from bumps.
- Otterbox Defender Series for iPad. Okay, not so funky but the most rugged way to protect your prized Apple iPad, and they do look good, in a chunky kind of way!
- JAVOedge Poppy iPad Sleeves. For a feminine but not too girlie look, these understated but beautiful canvas iPad slip cases are just the thing.
We could go on you understand!
But on with the best leather iPad cases info that so many folks seem to want to choose from...
Leather iPad Cases
We'll start with the Leather iPad Case. The reason - well heck, lets keep things traditional - who doesn't love the feel of a decent quality leather cover for anything really (strict vegetarians aside obviously). I know I do.
There are so many to choose from that I though it would be worth narrowing down the choices a little.
Going for brands such as Tuff Luv or CaseCrown that have proven themselves time and time again to be fantastic makers of covers and cases for all manner of personal electronics has got to be the best option.
The styles vary hugely, from simple book jacket styles to extremely well padded, multi-function items that will provide a stand for your tablet too.
My top 3 leather iPad Cases are as follows:
- CrazyOnDigital leather iPad Cases. These offer a great economical choice. Slim, simple no messing around!
- Tuff Luv leather iPad Cases. These are a little more pricey, but offer a whole heap of protection and versatility, with their multi-view range.
- CaseCrown Vertical Flip Down iPad Cases. Again, simple and lightweight as well as cheap!
CrazyOnDigital Leather iPad Case
CrazyOnDigital produce the best selling basic leather iPad cover. If all you want is a little protection without too many 'bells and whistles' this is the one.
My key motivation for including this simple cover is price. It is really economical (at the time of writing it was selling for an incredible $19.99! Now it is simple, but sometimes that is really all you need. A book jacket style cover that has 4 elastic straps to hold the corners of your iPad in place. This is not a cover for massive protection, but if you already use a messenger bag or backpack, this will stop your tablet getting scratched or bumped inside.
It's really slim and lightweight so you shouldn't have any problems fitting your encased tablet into any other laptop bag. The exterior is bonded, textured black leather and inside is a thin black microfiber lining. This is great as microfiber material is brilliant at catching dust particles. Do not expect high quality super soft leather though - this is a budget item, a Cheap Leather iPad Case if you will. But for the money you really can't go wrong.
Tuff Luv Leather iPad Cases - Real Napa Leather
Since discovering Tuff Luv Kindle Covers I have been a huge fan - and not just because of their lifetime guarantees.
Yes these are a little more expensive, but not prohibitively so, and when you compare the quality of workmanship and attention to detail they really do perform extremely well for the money. The Tuff-Luv multi-view® is the simplest design, and my personal favorite. It makes the iPad look like a rather smart diary when closed, with its high quality padded leather. But the integrated flip stand means it is really simple to view your tablet at any angle (well, between 20 and 70 degrees) which makes for comfortable ebook reading or surfing. I particularly like the variety of colors available too.
Black leather might be traditional but its nice to add a little more personality sometimes and the bright red leather iPad case is definitely 'me'!
Tuff Luv iPad Cases come in a few designs, flipping and folding differently for alternative levels of flexibility. All though, provide über protection for the Apple tablet and remain reasonably lightweight to carry around. And for the veggies out there they do produce a 'faux' leather version of their designs too.
CaseCrown Genuine Leather Vertical Flip iPad Case.
This is my final choice. Another leather iPad tablet cover that offers the chance to indulge my love of all things bright and beautiful (yes it comes in red too, as well as baby pink).
This is a flip stand of decent quality leather at a pretty cheap price of just over $20. The only 'issue' I have is the pocket inside which allows you to slot card holders and the like inside. Useful yes, but being a little on the paranoid side I wouldn't use it as those cards will be pushed up against the iPads beautiful touchscreen. But forget the pocket and use it as a beautiful cheap IPad case and it will do fine!
Oh and if black leather isn't your thing, the blue version is pretty cool too. Not too 'whacky' but just a little bit more interesting I think.
And Finally...
The choice of leather iPad cases is seemingly endless, but those are my top 3. However, I am a woman and so am permitted to change my mind as often as I like, and would have to say that I did struggle with whether or not the Simplism Leather Collection Shoulder Leather Case for iPad in gorgeous camel leather.
Or red...
The reason is that a girl simply cannot have too many bags or purses and this one looks just like a rather swish bag!
Still can't decide like me? Head on over to amazon for a big browse...
Massive Range of iPad Cases via the links at the top.
You know you want too... ;)
Or, if you are looking for something a little extra special, why not try one of the luxury iPad cases on offer.
Best iPad Cases
So there you go, my top 3 (or 4) best leather iPad cases - so far.
We'll be looking at some other designs shortly, including tougher iPad carry cases and shells, plus of course those touchy-feeling soft silicone skins for added iPad protection.
There are so many different designs out there. From sleek messenger bag styles in funky colors to traditional (boring?) lap-top bag style carry cases. Hard Shell cases in bright fun colors are always a favorite of mine, but I have to admit the truly minimal Japanese style Skoobawrap is pretty awesome if you want something more original, plus of course it is multi-use, not just an iPad accessory at all.
In fact since this iPad Case hub is getting pretty full, just with the Best Leather iPad Cases I think those other cool covers will need to be written about separately! One that you should definitely check out if you want the ultimate well fitting, beautiful leather is the luxury iPad case from Piel Frama. Far cheaper than you might expect for such fabulous quality.
But for now I think its time for me to make up my mind which leather iPad case I really want!
If I may make a suggestion, the otterbox defender should be added to the list of top cases. It's $90, but I got mine on amazon for $50. It's compatible with docks, has 3 layers of protection, yadda yadda yadda...
Nick, I agree the Otterbox Defender iPad Case is a real winner. It is a little bulky for a shell but oh so much protective power!
This is a fantastic hub. Should make more of this
